Government Permits:

Certain websites advise that you cannot enter Agri, Turkey without a hiking permit. Do not be deterred by these warnings. Anyone can visit the towns in Agri without a permit. Please allow one month for us to obtain the required government permit for you to climb Mount Ararat. Email or call us to discuss last-minute climbing requests. You may also read warnings that Mount Ararat is closed or is in a military zone. Neither is true. Mount Ararat was temporarily closed to trekkers from 1991 to 2001, and has been open since then. The country is at peace and the Turkish people will welcome you with warm hospitality. We are happy to discuss your concerns with you. Your comfort, safety, and peace of mind are our first priority!
